Blurry Vision FAQs

We've all come face to face with blurry vision at least once in our lives. Whether it was looking at a television or computer screen too long, looking too much at the sun, or even suffering from an underlying vision disorder, blurry vision can impact you without you expecting it. When it does, it can be important to have help from an optometrist or from an optician, who can help outfit you with a set of eyeglasses, contact lenses, or other treatment to improve your vision.

.

At Elio's Optical Vision Center, we're here to help residents of Miami, FL, get the care they need to restore their vision, live free of blurry vision, and see clearly. That's why we offer eye care, such as eyeglasses, and can help answer your most common blurry vision FAQs below!

What Causes Blurry Vision?

Blurry vision can be caused by a variety of factors which may include:

  • Blurry vision due to refractive errors, which can include astigmatism, nearsightedness, or farsightedness. These conditions are caused by an irregularly shaped cornea or lens which cannot focus light clearly
  • Computer vision syndrome, which is caused by looking at a computer or other type of screen too long
  • Not having the appropriate eyewear for your underlying vision disorder
  • Eye strain
  • Allergies and water eyes

Do I Need Eyeglasses?

If you continue to suffer from blurry vision along with other symptoms, such as eye strain, inability to focus, inability to see at night, increase glares and halos, it may be best to schedule an appointment with an optometrist right away. An optometrist on our optometry team can help provide you with treatment options to improve your vision, and get you the help you need to see clearly.

Can Wearing Contacts Improve My Blurry Vision?

Both contact lenses and eyeglasses can help improve blurry vision if you have a refractive error. This is because these tools can help to refocus light onto the retina of the eye, producing a clearer image for people that suffer from refractive errors like astigmatism, nearsightedness, and farsightedness.

However, not everyone can have access to contacts, so it's important to speak to an optometrist or an optician about options to help improve your blurry vision.
